Floyd has 40 years of experience with the last 30 years as an executive leader in higher education. Through his work at the university senior executive ranks, Floyd has helped increase philanthropic support for two of Canada’s leading universities, positioning them among Canada’s best.
Floyd knows how to create communities of interest, assist them with coming together around a common vision and purpose, and develop tactical plans that achieve results through focused execution. He has a deep understanding of the role of philanthropy and that of the private sector and governments in achieving outstanding results.
Floyd is arguably the most successful fundraiser in Atlantic Canada, having raised almost $400 million over eight years at Dalhousie. These funds helped transform Dalhousie into one of the most innovative Universities in Canada and created one of the most generous university scholarships programs in Canada. Prior to Dalhousie, Floyd raised more than $75 million at Mount Allison University at a critical time for Mt A, growing the endowment from about $26 million to $80 million.
As a volunteer, Floyd chaired a working committee which resulted in the establishment of the Cape Chignecto Park in Nova Scotia. Recently, Floyd chaired the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia Building Committee tasked with driving forward the development of a $120 million art gallery building on the Halifax waterfront, securing a significant portion of the funding for the construction of this ground-breaking building.
