Montreal, August 18, 2026. The BNP Inspire team is pleased to announce the arrival of Karine Gareau, M. Sc., as a Philanthropy Consultant. With almost ten years of professional experience in the education and community sectors, she brings expertise in philanthropic strategy, major campaigns, organizational management, donor engagement, and partnership development.
360-Degree Experience in Philanthropy
Throughout her career, Karine has contributed to the development and implementation of fundraising strategies, the cultivation of relationships with donors, businesses, foundations, and strategic partners, as well as the creation of new funding initiatives. Her experience also includes strategic planning, governance, complex project management, and accountability.
Before joining BNP Inspire, Karine served as Executive Director of the Fondation de l’Université du Québec en Abitibi-Témiscamingue, after previously working there as a Philanthropic Development Project Manager. Her professional journey also led her to the Centre ressources jeunesse de l’Abitibi-Témiscamingue and Accès-Cible SMT.
A Notable Tenure at the Université du Québec en Abitibi-Témiscamingue
As Executive Director of the UQAT Foundation, Karine led the Bâtir l’avenir maintenant major campaign, the largest in the institution’s history. Launched with a $25 million goal, the campaign made it possible to carry out several major projects, including the creation of two research chairs, the James Bay Observatory, the new Mont-Laurier campus, student scholarship programs, and an interdisciplinary teaching and research clinic in healthcare and psychosocial services.
Karine also created five scholarship programs to support the success of UQAT’s next generation of students and researchers, including a program for Indigenous students. She has also authored several scientific publications and presentations, notably focusing on donor retention and the evolution of philanthropy in Quebec.
A PhD candidate in Social Communication at the Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières, Karine also holds a Master’s degree in Organizational Management from the Université du Québec en Abitibi-Témiscamingue and a Bachelor’s degree in Criminology from the Université de Montréal.
